How we became the technology backbone of Wirral's #1 cycling workshop

The brief

Wirral Cycle Services is a well-established independent bicycle workshop and retailer serving riders across the Wirral peninsula. The owner, Paul Walker, wanted a modern, professional web presence that showcased both the workshop expertise and a growing e-commerce range. His key objectives were to raise local visibility, make it easier for customers to book repairs online, and position the business as the go-to cycle service centre in the area.

Challenges

1. Outdated design - The previous site looked dated on desktop and performed poorly on mobile devices, creating a poor first impression.
2. No clear user journey – Service information, booking details, and product listings were scattered across multiple pages with inconsistent navigation.
3. Slow page speed – Large, unoptimised images and legacy code led to long load times that hurt both user experience and search rankings.
4. Limited content depth – The site offered little information about specialist services, customer success stories, or the team’s expertise, making it difficult to rank for relevant local search terms.

Solutions

1. Clean, responsive redesign on Mozello - We built a fresh layout that adapts seamlessly to all screen sizes and emphasises clear typography and high-contrast section breaks.
2. Streamlined information architecture Core service categories – Repairs, Custom Builds, and E-commerce – now sit in the primary menu. A persistent “Book a Service” button follows users throughout the site.
3. Performance optimisation All images were resized, compressed, and served in modern formats. Unused CSS and JavaScript were removed, cutting average load time from 4.8 s to 1.6 s.
4. Compelling, keyword-rich copy and on-page SEO We produced service-led content that answers common customer queries and targets phrases such as “bike repair Wirral” and “cycle servicing near me”. Schema markup helps search engines surface key details in rich snippets.

Results table (first 90 days post launch)

Local search visibility improved markedly: the site now appears in the top three organic positions for “cycle repair Wirral” and related terms, driving a steady stream of qualified traffic and phone enquiries.
